Tenure Track Position in Ethics
The University of Oregon Department of Philosophy is searching for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy with an area of specialization (AOS) in Ethics. The area of competence (AOC) is open, but the department is especially interested in those with teaching competence in Gender Theory, History of Philosophy, Social/Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, and Logic.
We are looking for someone who has a broad pluralistic orientation that encompasses a variety of perspectives, which must include being well-versed in approaches from within the analytic tradition. We want candidates who reach beyond moral theory to develop an engaged, embodied, culturally situated moral philosophy. Such a candidate would be interested in topics such as contemporary moral issues, environmental ethics, new research in moral psychology, and issues arising from gender, race, and cultural institutions.
Expectations of teaching include introductory, middle-level, and advanced undergraduate courses, graduate teaching in the area of specialization, mentoring of graduate student research, and directing theses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The University of Oregon is on the academic quarter system, and the standard teaching load is presently five courses across three terms each year.
Undergraduate teaching experience, an appropriate record of research and publication, and a Ph.D. are required. Salary will be competitive depending on qualifications.

The University of Oregon, enrolling over 19,000 undergraduate and 3,500 graduate students, is an AAU research institution and a member of the Pac-10 conference.

Philosophy Adjunct Instructor Pool
The University of Oregon Department of Philosophy is establishing a pool of applicants for part-time, temporary, limited duration teaching appointments in all fields of philosophy at the UO campus. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and the pool will remain active through July 2012. Screening of applicants will take place as positions become available and will continue until positions are filled. Ph.D. in Philosophy or related field required.
